Sahara Refund Portal Launched 2025
On 18 July 2023, the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS) under the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, introduced the Sahara India Refund Portal. Through this portal, Rs. 5000 crores will be distributed to rightful depositors of the Sahara Group of Cooperative Societies. The portal was officially launched by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah. Eligible depositors can submit their refund applications online at mocrefund.crcs.gov.in.
Launch Date of Sahara Refund Portal 2025
The CRCS Sahara Refund Portal was launched on 18 July 2023, at 11:00 AM during an inauguration ceremony held at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan, New Delhi. Shri Amit Shah officially unveiled the CRCS Sahara Refund Portal at mocrefund.crcs.gov.in. . Eligible depositors can apply online for their Sahara Refund using the direct link provided here.
What is the refund amount?
During the initial phase, the refund portal aims to distribute up to Rs. 5000 crore to depositors, with each depositor receiving a maximum of Rs. 10,000.
Amit Shah announced that Rs. 10,000 will be refunded to investors on a trial basis, with a possibility of increasing the refund amount if the trial proves successful.
Around 1 crore and 7 lakh investors can register on the portal and claim up to Rs. 10,000 during this phase. As per Amit Shah, 4 crore depositors are eligible for refunds of up to Rs. 10,000.
He further stated that upon the success of this initiative, additional steps will be taken to address the claims of depositors with larger sums stuck in the Sahara Group’s cooperative societies. The entire refund process will be conducted online.”

What steps need to be taken to claim the money?
Investors will first need to determine which Sahara Group committee their funds were deposited in. Relevant documents must be submitted to support their claim. The role of Sahara agents in this process will only become clear after the portal is launched.
